Lyons Powers Campioni’s True Value – Tuesday Sports Wrap

MLB
The Major League Baseball All-Star Game will be played tonight. Pitcher Michael Fulmer is the Detroit Tigers’ official representative on the team. He won’t play, though, because he started Sunday night’s game. Outfielder Justin Upton was added to the roster to give the Tigers an active player. Closer Corey Knebel will represent the Milwaukee Brewers.

Fast Pitch Softball
In Copper Country Fast Pitch Softball play last night…
– Superior National Bank shut down Mattila Rock and Dock 10-0. Adena Anderson and Larissa Anderson combined to pitch the shutout. Grace Laitila and Katie Mattila pitched for Mattila Rock and Dock. Adena Anderson and Katy Sturos each had two singles for Superior National Bank and Meagan Kangas had a double. Grace Laitila had two singles for Mattila Rock and Dock.
 – Calumet Golf Club/Loading Zone II defeated Northern Michigan Land Brokers 8-4. McKenzie Lapage was the winning pitcher despite giving up seven walks. Hannah Hill also gave up seven walks, and took the loss. Caitlyn Zerbst, McKenna Kerranen and Kali Demars each had two hits for Calumet Golf Club/Loading Zone II.
– Campioni’s True Value took both ends of a doubleheader from Auto Pro Glass and Tire. The opening game was a 12-4 victory, in which Campioni’s scored at least one run in every inning. Emily Erkkila was the winning pitcher, and Sara Audette took the loss. Laura Lyons had two hits, including a home run, for Campioni’s, and Kayley King had two hits. Kenzie Brunet had two hits for Auto Pro Glass and Tire. In the second game, Campioni’s trailed by a run in the bottom of the seventh when Lyons doubled home the tying run to force extra innings. Auto Pro reclaimed the lead with three in the top of the eighth. In the bottom of the eighth, Brittney Heikkila singled home a run for Campioni’s, and Lyons closed out a 13-12 come-from-behind victory with a three-run walk-off home run.

There are two makeup games scheduled for tonight…
– At the Gipp Recreation Area in Laurium, Superior National Bank will face Calumet Golf Club/Loading Zone II at 5:45. Campioni’s True Value meets Superior National Bank at 7:15.

In Copper Country Twilight League baseball tonight…
– Superior National Bank-Stanton meets Dean Kangas-State Farm at the Hancock Driving Park.
– REL-Mohawk Technologies plays Wolverine-Orbit at the Wolverine Field.

Horseshoe League
In Copper Country Horseshoe League play last night…
– Ahmeek Fire Department defeated Dreamland Two 6-3.
– Loading Zone downed Harter’s Carquest 7-2.
– Drift Inn edged Rocky’s 5-4.
– Calumet One blanked Calumet Electronics 9-0.
– L and L shut out Dreamland One 9-0.

NBA
Reggie Bullock is back with the Detroit Pistons. Bullock became a free agent after Detroit declined to make a qualifying offer at the end of last season. He’s now signed a two-year deal worth five-million dollars.
