Copper Country players dominate the Great Lakes Hockey Conference All-Star teams this year.
Calumet’s Dean Loukus was named Player of the Year. Copper Kings coach Dan Giachino was named Coach of the Year, after leading the team to a first-place finish in the league.
Local members of the first team include Jackson Rilei from Calumet; Camden Markham and Jimmy Pietila from Houghton; and Austin Salani and Chad Nordstrom from Hancock.
Local second team members include Calumet’s Tom Erkkila and Aksel Loukus; Hancock’s Mason Mikesch; and Houghton’s Nathan Erva.
Honorable mention votes went to Calumet’s Noah Jukuri and Cliff Jurmu; Houghton’s Ted Halonen and Dane Johnson; Hancock’s Calvin Heinonen and Brad Randell; and Brent Heinonen and Kyler Hillstrom from Jeffers.
