Lopsided Hockey Wins for Kings, ‘Dogs – Wednesday Sports Wrap

High School

In high school hockey last night…
– Calumet routed Negaunee 11-1. The Copper Kings scored seven goals in the first period, and went on to outshoot the Miners 39-10. The game ended after the second period because of the mercy rule. Tanner Rowe scored four times. Seth Coppo and Dean Loukus each had two goals, and Noah Jukuri, Scott Loukus and Alex Mattila added one apiece.
– Hancock outskated Kingsford 6-1.

In high school boys basketball last evening…
– Calumet fell to Jeffers 55-42.
– Hancock dropped a 72-56 decision to West Iron County.
– Houghton lost to Marquette 62-41.
– Lake Linden-Hubbell got past Ewen-Trout Creek 70-66. William Lyons scored 24 points.
– Chassell edged L’Anse 67-62.

Finlandia University

Both Finlandia University basketball teams will host Bay College today. The women’s game begins at 5:00, and the men’s contest will tip off at 7:00. Our coverage of both games will begin at 4:40 on 99.3 The Lift and 993TheLift.com.

The Detroit Red Wings return to action when they visit the New York Rangers Friday night. Coverage begins at 6:40 on 99.3 The Lift.

Retro Ski

The Keweenaw Nordic Ski Club will hold its annual Retro Ski Sunday at the Maasto Hiihto trails. You’re encouraged to wear old style gear and bring your old skis, but it’s not required. Meet at the Tomasi Trail Head at 1:30 for a back country ski. Afterward, the group will head to a restaurant for a meal and some social time.

There is no official registration, but please call either Jay Green at 487-5411 or John Diebel at 281-1486 to let them know you are coming, so they have an idea of how many to expect.
