Local Players Dominate WestPAC All-Conference Volleyball Squad

Calumet setter Laina Kariniemi has been named WestPAC Volleyball Player of the Year.

In her senior season, Kariniemi set a new school career assist record.

Calumet’s Kate Bonacorsi was honored as WestPAC Coach of the Year, after leading the Copper Kings to an unbeaten match play record, and a conference title.

Negaunee’s Marisa Hird was named Defensive Specialist of the Year.

Copper Country players dominated the All-Conference squads.

Local players on the First Team include Allie Bjorn, Caitlin Strom and Jackie Kiilunen from Calumet; Brielle Kero and Brooke Koskela from Hancock; and Brynn Arko, Clea Ollanketo and Laney Johnson from Houghton.

Local players placed on the Second Team include Maddie Torola from Calumet; Danica Ryynanen and Sophia Neves from Houghton; and Ella Storm and Lana Aho from Hancock.
