MLB
The Detroit Tigers lost 6-0 to the Minnesota Twins last night. Matthew Boyd threw four shutout innings, but walked the first two batters in the fifth, and then left the game with a left oblique spasm. Warwick Saupold relieved him, and allowed those runners to score, plus another. The Twins tacked on three more against Buck Farmer in the seventh inning.

The Tigers wrap up that series at Minnesota this afternoon. Michael Fulmer will start against Kyle Gibson. Pregame coverage will begin at 12:45 on 99.3 The Lift.

After the game, Detroit manager Ron Gardenhire said he doesn’t believe Boyd’s injury is serious. He’ll be evaluated today. Meanwhile, third baseman Jeimer Candelario is set to begin a rehab assignment with the Toledo Mud Hens today. If his ailing wrist holds up, he could be back with the Tigers this weekend.

The Milwaukee Brewers edged the Arizona Diamondbacks 1-0 last night. The game’s only run came on Domingo Santana’s sacrifice fly in the sixth inning. Jhoulys Chacín pitched five scoreless innings, Matt Albers got the win in relief, and Corey Knebel earned the save.

The Brewers conclude that set against the Diamondbacks again this afternoon. Brent Suter will pitch against Zack Godley.
