LL-H, Calumet in HS Volleyball Regionals Tonight – Tuesday Sports Wrap

High School
The regional semifinals of the high school volleyball tournament will be played tonight…
– In Division Four, Lake Linden-Hubbell will face Munising at 7:30 at Westwood.
– In Division Three, Calumet will take on Manistique at 6:30 at Marquette.

Finlandia
The Finlandia University men’s basketball team will host Gogebic Community College tonight at 6:00 at the Paavo Nurmi Center.

MTU
Michigan Tech’s Keegan Ford has been named the Defensive Player of the Week by the Western Collegiate Hockey Association. Ford had a goal and two assists in the Huskies’ sweep at Alabama-Huntsville last weekend.

Lake Superior State will make its first appearance in nearly 20 seasons at this year’s Great Lakes Invitational hockey tournament. Michigan Tech will host the 54th GLI at Little Caesar’s Arena in Detroit December 30th and 31st. The Huskies will face the University of Michigan in the opening round, while the Lakers will take on Michigan State.

NBA
The Detroit Pistons lost to the Miami Heat 120-115 in overtime last night. Andre Drummond led Detroit with 25 points and 24 rebounds. Reggie Jackson also scored 25, and Blake Griffin added 24 before fouling out late in regulation. The Pistons have dropped five in a row, and play at Orlando tomorrow night. NHL
The Detroit Red Wings entertain the Vancouver Canucks tonight. Pregame coverage will begin at 7:10 on 99.3 The Lift.

NFL
In last night’s NFL contest, the Tennessee Titans defeated the Dallas Cowboys 28-14. If you played The Wolf Pro Football Challenge, you must have selected at least 10 games correctly to qualify to be our weekly winner.

The Detroit Lions have fired special teams coach Joe Marciano. Lions special teams flourished under Marciano over the past several seasons, but had been flagged for 14 penalties this year, and ranked near the bottom of the league in many statistics.
