High School

The high school volleyball tournament opens tonight.

  • In Division Three, West Iron County  plays at Ishpeming. The winner will face Calumet Wednesday, with pregame at 5:40 on the Voice of the Copper Kings, KBear 102.3. Westwood plays at Ironwood, with the winner playing at Jeffers Wednesday at 6.
  • In Division Four, District 98, L’Anse at Chassell at 6:00; Dollar Bay-Tamarack City plays at Baraga at 6:00.
  • In Division Four, District 97 – Ontonagon faces  Bessemer at Ewen-Trout Creek.

College Soccer

The MTU soccer team fell 1-0 to Parkside yesterday, despite outshooting the Rangers 12-2.

The NMU men’s team scored in the final minute to edge Parkside 1-0 yesterday.

NHL

The Wings will visit the Blackhawks Wednesday. Coverage will start at 7:45 on 99.3 The Lift.

NBA

The Pistons shut down the Nets 106-92 yesterday. Cade Cunningham scored 19 points for Detroit, and Tobias Harris and Malik Beasley each added 18. Jalen Duren grabbed 17 rebounds.

The Pistons host the Lakers tonight.

NFL

The Lions cemented their hold on first place in the NFC North Division with a 24-14 victory over the Packers at a rainy Lambeau Field yesterday. Detroit scored on a tumbling Amon-Ra St. Brown pass reception, a Jahmyr Gibbs run, and a Kerby Joseph interception return to the end zone. The Lions defense held Green Bay to two Brandon McManus field goals until Emanuel Wilson’s two-yard touchdown plunge in the closing minutes.

In the Sunday night contest, the Vikings came from behind to beat the Colts 21-13.

In tonight’s game, the Buccaneers visit the Chiefs, with coverage beginning at 7:30 on 99.3 The Lift.
