MTU
It had long been assumed, but is now official – the Great Lakes Invitational Hockey Tournament will move to the new Little Caesar’s Arena in Detroit this year. Michigan Tech and Olympia Entertainment announced a four year agreement yesterday to continue their partnership in staging the event. The 53rd annual GLI will be held January 1st and 2nd. Michigan Tech, the University of Michigan, and Michigan State will be joined by Bowling Green State University.

After a loss and a tie last weekend, the Michigan Tech hockey team has fallen out of the national rankings. The Huskies received a few votes in the USCHO.com poll, and none in the USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine poll. Northern Michigan University has entered the USCHO.com poll at number 20. The Huskies and Wildcats will meet this weekend – Friday in Houghton, and Saturday in Marquette.

NHL
Tomáš Tatar’s goal with a little more than a minute remaining lifted the Detroit Red Wings to a 3-2 victory over the Vancouver Canucks last night. Darren Helm and Martin Frk also scored. Justin Abdelkader had two assists. Jimmy Howard stopped 26 shot to earn the win in net. The Wings skate at Calgary Thursday night.

NBA
The Detroit Pistons host the Indiana Pacers tomorrow night. Tip-off is at 7:00 on 99.3 The Lift.

NFL
In last night’s NFL game, the Detroit Lions never trailed, as they defeated the Green Bay Packers 30-17. The Detroit defense held Green Bay to just a field goal over the first three periods. The Pack’s final touchdown came with no time remaining. Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford completed 26 of 33 passes for 361 yards and two touchdowns. Packers quarterback Brett Hundley completed 26 of 38 passes for 245 yards.
