The Detroit Lions have released three players, in advance of next week’s draft. They include linebacker Steve Longa, who played in 28 games over the past four seasons. Tight end Paul Butler and wide receiver Jonathan Duhart had signed futures contracts with the team.
The NFL draft is scheduled to begin a week from today.
The NFL is considering a shorter 2020 season, which could include playing games with no fans in attendance. President Donald Trump has called for the league to open on schedule. But, because of the large number of people that travel with each team from city to city, NFL chief medical officer Dr. Allen Sills told NFL.com that league officials will likely not begin the season until widespread COVID-19 testing is available.
