The NMU men’s soccer team played Purdue Northwest to a 0-0 draw yesterday.

NBA

The Pistons opened their NBA preseason campaign yesterday with a 130-126 overtime loss to the Suns. Detroit fell behind early, but came back, and forced the extra period when Ausar Thompson drained a three-pointer in the closing seconds of regulation. Marvin Bagley III led Detroit with 25 points. NHL

In advance of Thursday’s regular-season opener, the Red Wings did some roster trimming yesterday. Jonatan Berggren, Simon Edvinsson and Elmer Söderblom were assigned to the Grand Rapids Griffins.

MLB

The MLB divisional playoff round continues.

In the American League yesterday…
• The Rangers outslugged the Orioles 11-8. Texas leads that series 2-0.
• The Twins downed the Astros 6-2. That set is tied 1-1.

Both of those series continue tomorrow.

In the National League today…
• The Braves host the Phillies. Philadelphia leads that series 1-0.
• The Dodgers entertain the Diamondbacks. Arizona is up 1-0 in that series.

NFL

The Lions built a big early lead, and cruised past the Panthers 42-24 yesterday. Jared Goff threw three touchdown passes, and ran for a score. David Montgomery rushed for 109 yards.

In last night’s game, the 49ers routed the Cowboys 42-10.

The Packers visit the Raiders in tonight’s contest on 99.3 The Lift. Running back Aaron Jones is among those listed as doubtful for the game.
