More than 11,000 people packed the Superior Dome yesterday, as Michigan State defeated Northern Michigan 70-53 in a men’s basketball exhibition game.

Detroit has cut ties with goaltender Ville Husso. Team officials confirmed yesterday that he’s been placed on waivers. Husso was signed to be Detroit’s starter two seasons ago, but has struggled, and was pulled early from Detroit’s opening game last week. Cam Talbot will slide into the top spot, with Alex Lyon as the backup.

NBA

The Pistons fell to the Warriors 111-93 in a pre-season contest last night. Jaden Ivey scored 19 for Detroit, and Cade Cunningham added 18.

The Pistons conclude their brief pre-season campaign Wednesday at home against the Cavaliers. Listen for selected Pistons broadcasts again this season on 99.3 The Lift.

The American League Championship Series between the Yankees and Guardians opens tonight in New York.

The Dodgers thumped the Mets 9-0 in the opener of the National League Championship Series last night. That set continues tonight in Los Angeles.

NFL

The Lions bashed the Cowboys 47-9 yesterday. Jared Goff threw three touchdown passes, and David Montgomery ran for two scores. Jake Bates kicked four field goals. Dallas quarterback Dak Prescott – the highest-paid player in pro football – turned in one of the worst performances of his career, and was eventually benched in favor of back-up Cooper Rush.

It was a costly victory for Detroit. Pass rusher Aidan Hutchinson was carted off the field in the third quarter with a badly broken leg. He’ll need surgery to repair it, and will miss the rest of the season.

Detroit has inked running back David Montgomery to a two-year contract extension worth a reported $18.25 million, with $10.5 million guaranteed.

The Packers shut down the Cardinals 34-13. Jordan Love tossed four touchdown passes

In the Sunday night game, the Bengals outscored the Giants 17-7.

Tonight, the Bills visit the Jets, with the broadcast on 99.3 The Lift.
