Lions Fold Again – Monday Sports Wrap

MLB

The American League Divisional Series begin today, as the Astros face the Athletics, and the Yankees take on the Rays.

The National League Divisional Series start tomorrow.

NBA

The Heat defeated the Lakers 115-104 as the NBA championship series continued last night. L-A still leads the set 2-1, with game four set for tomorrow night.

NFL

The Lions took a quick 14-point lead, but the Saints scored 35 consecutive points to take control, and New Orleans then held on for a 35-29 victory. Matthew Stafford threw three touchdown passes, but Adrian Peterson was held to just 36 yards rushing. Detroit made it close with a touchdown and two-point conversion with less than four minutes remaining, but the Saints were able to run out the clock.

Dating back to last season, the Lions have lost 12 of their last 13 games.

Yesterday’s game almost didn’t happen. New Orleans fullback Michael Burton tested positive for COVID-19 late last week. Subsequent re-tests of him and his teammates showed the first result to be false.

The Packers host the Falcons tonight. Kickoff for tonight’s contest has been moved back to 7:50. Hear the broadcast on 99.3 The Lift.

There will be one other game tonight. The Patriots will take on the Chiefs, in a match that was postponed for a day after New England quarterback Cam Newton tested positive for COVID-19. The rest of the Patriots have cleared another round of testing.

Two more Titans tested positive yesterday. Yesterday’s Tennessee game against the Steelers has been rescheduled for week seven.

High School

The Copper Country Christian School club soccer team defeated the Negaunee Soccer Club 7-2 on Saturday. Noah Bach scored four goals.
