Lions Fall to Broncos – Monday Sports Wrap

Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference

The Michigan Tech men’s basketball team routed Algoma University Saturday 117-60. Kyle Monroe led the Huskies with 30 points.

The Northern Michigan University men’s basketball team lost 80-75 to Ripon College Saturday.

Great Lakes Hockey League

The Calumet Wolverines completed a weekend sweep of the Portage Lake Pioneers with a 4-3 victory Saturday night. Bryan Miller made 38 saves for Calumet.

NHL

Make it four losses in a row for the Detroit Red Wings, after a 5-2 defeat at the hands of the Arizona Coyotes last night. Filip Zadina and Tyler Bertuzzi scored late goals to prevent a shutout. Jimmy Howard made 40 saves in his return from three weeks on the injured list.

The Wings are off until Saturday, when they visit the Florida Panthers. Coverage will begin at 6:40 on 99.3 The Lift.

Detroit has placed Anthony Mantha on injured reserve. Mantha suffered an upper body injury in Saturday’s game. The team isn’t saying what that injury was, but coach Jeff Blashill says will not be available for next Saturday’s game.

NBA

The Detroit Pistons host the Chicago Bulls tonight.

NFL

In the NFL yesterday, the Detroit Lions lost to the Denver Broncos 27-17. David Blough completed 12 of 24 passes for 117 yards and a touchdown.

The Green Bay Packers visit the Minnesota Vikings tonight. Hear the game on 99.3 The Lift.
