MTU
The Michigan Tech volleyball team entertains Northern Michigan University tonight at 7:00 at the SDC.

MLB
Buck Farmer couldn’t last three innings, as the Detroit Tigers lost to the Oakland Athletics 8-3 last night. Farmer gave up a run in the first, and was chased while Oakland added four in the third. Ian Kinsler homered for Detroit, and Nicholas Castellanos had three hits.

Tigers reliever Jeff Farrell was hit on the side of his head by a line drive in the eighth inning. Farrell stayed on his feet, but left the game, and will be evaluated today.

The Tigers entertain the Athletics again tonight. Chad Bell will start against Daniel Gossett. Pregame coverage will begin at 6:45 on 99.3 The Lift.

Detroit is making an organizational change. Mike Rojas has been told that he will not be back next season as the manager of the Toledo Mud Hens.

Brent Suter threw five scoreless innings, as the Milwaukee Brewers blanked the Pittsburgh Pirates 3-0 last night. Four relievers completed the shutout. Ryan Braun homered.

The Brewers host the Pirates again tonight. Chase Anderson will start against Trevor Williams.

The Cubs were idle, so Milwaukee now trails Chicago by three and a half games in the National League Central Division.

NFL
Matthew Stafford tossed two touchdown passes, as the Detroit Lions defeated the New York Giants 24-10 last night. Rookie Jamal Agnew returned a punt 88 yards for a score, Ameer Abdullah rushed for 86 yards, and Ezekiel Ansah had three sacks. Rookie linebacker Jarrad Davis suffered a blow to the head during the game, and is apparently undergoing concussion protocol.
