Lions Baseball Takes Two – Sunday Sports Wrao

The Detroit Pistons face elimination from the NBA playoffs tonight.  Cleveland leads their best-of-seven opening round series three games to none. Pregame coverage begins at 7:30 on AM 1400 and FM 99.3, WCCY.

The Detroit Tigers were pounded 10-1 by the Cleveland Indians Saturday. Anibal Sanchez was ripped for seven runs on nine hits before leaving in the third inning. Detroit got only two hits – one a homer by Jarrod Saltalamacchia. The Tigers have lost six of their last eight games, and have scored just two runs in their last three games. They’ll wrap up their home set against Cleveland this afternoon. Shane Greene will pitch against Carlos Carrasco. Hear the first pitch at 1:10 on AM 1400 and FM 99.3, WCCY.

The Milwaukee Brewers fell to the Philadelphia Phillies 10-6 Saturday night. Chase Anderson struggled, giving up six runs on eight hits over four innings. Ryan Braun and Chris Carter homered for Milwaukee.

The Brewers conclude that home series against the Phillies this afternoon. Wily Peralta will pitch against Jerad Eickhoff.

The Michigan Tech men’s tennis team lost to Wayne State 7-2 Saturday morning. The Huskies host Northwood today.

Finlandia
The Finlandia University baseball team won two games against North Central University on Saturday, 6-3 and 5-2. In the first game, Aaron Froelich went the distance for the win. Patrick Coles had two hits, and scored twice. Coles pitched a complete game to win the second game. Adam Johns had three hits.

On Friday, The Lions split a doubleheader at North Central University. The Lions lost the opener 9-6. Joey Krug drove in two runs. Finlandia won the second game 10-7. Seth Ensor homered and drove in three runs. Patrick Coles also drove in three runs, and Luke Paul had three hits.

The Finlandia softball team was scheduled to host Martin Luther College and Northland College this weekend, but the games were canceled because of poor field conditions. Those games will not be made up. The Lions finish their season with a 5-19 record.
