MLB
The Tigers fell behind early, made a late bid to catch up, but lost 7-6 to the Angels in 10 innings last night. Eduardo Rodriguez couldn’t make it through the fifth inning, and gave up four runs. Trailing 6-2 in the bottom of the ninth, Detroit tied the game with an RBI single from Jake Rogers, a double from Riley Greene, and a two-out, two-run double by Spencer Torkelson. L-A pushed home the game-winner off Alex Lange in the top of the 10th.
The Tigers host the Angels again tonight. Michael Lorenzen will pitch against Patrick Sandoval. Coverage will begin at 6:15 on 99.3 The Lift.
Last night’s start may have been Rodriguez’ final one for Detroit, and Lorenzen may be making his last appearance tonight. Both are considered trade candidates, and could be dealt to contenders by the August 1st trade deadline.
The Brewers also had a late comeback fall short in a 4-3 loss to the Reds. Down 4-0 in the bottom of the ninth, Christian Yelich hit a two-out, three-run homer to narrow the gap. Milwaukee then put runners at first and second, but Andruw Monasterio flied out to end the game.
The Brewers entertain the Reds again this afternoon. Freddy Peralta will start against Ben Lively.
