The Milwaukee Brewers took two from the Cincinnati Reds on Saturday. In the afternoon game, the Brewers scored five runs in the sixth, and single runs in the eighth and ninth, to claim an 8-6 comeback win, Elian Herrera’s homer provided the go-ahead run. The late surge saved Milwaukee starter Matt Garza from another loss, after he gave up five runs over 4-2/3rds innings. After the game, Milwaukee manager Craig Counsell said Garza would not start again this season.

Herrera homered again in the evening game, sealing a 7-3 victory with a three-run shot in the ninth.Shane Peterson hit his first major league home run in the sixth inning. The game was delayed in the third inning, at first because umpire Phil Little had to be notified of an urgent family medical issue. As that unfolded, lightning struck a light pole in left field, and the remaining umpires declared a rain delay. When the game resumed 93-minutes later, Ariel Pena replaced Milwaukee starter Wily Peralta. Pena gave up two runs over three innings, and earned the win in his major league debut. It was the 22nd rain delay the Reds have experienced this season.
