High School
In high school football yesterday…
– Lake Linden-Hubbell fell to Munising 20-16. The Lakes fall to 1-6 on the season.

In high school volleyball yesterday, Lake Linden-Hubbell, Jeffers, and Ewen-Trout Creek’s results from the Ironwood/Hurley Invitational were not reported.

Finlandia
The Finlandia University volleyball team dropped a pair of matches yesterday, falling 3-0 (9-25, 15-25, 22-25) to Wisconsin-River Falls, and 3-1 (20-25, 25-22, 13-25, 17-25) to Hamline University. Kaisa Holmstrom led the Lions in the first match with eight kills and nine digs. In the second match, Marina Dalton recorded 13 kills, and Jesse Diaz had 25 digs.

The Finlandia women’s soccer team edged Grace Christian University 2-1 yesterday. Kirsten L’Esperance and Alexia Gonzales each had a goal and an assist. The Lions entertain Mount Mary this morning at 11:00 at McAfee Field.

The Finlandia football team dropped its first-ever homecoming game, 56-7 to unbeaten Kalamazoo College yesterday. The Lions’ only score came in the second quarter, when De’Llontae Johnson found Tyler Kangas in the end zone to complete a 21-yard play. Former Baraga Viking Dillion Hueckstaedt set a school record with 20 tackles. The Hornets rolled up 515 yards of total offense, and held Finlandia to just 112.

MTU
The Michigan Tech soccer team plays at Davenport University today.

The MTU volleyball team swept Wisconsin-Parkside 3-0 (25-13, 25-17, 25-14) yesterday. Olivia Ghormley had 16 kills. The 25th-ranked Huskies have won six in a row.

The Tech football team lost to Ferris State 42-24 in a game that was played at Fifth Third Ballpark in Grand Rapids yesterday. The Huskies scored 17 unanswered points in the fourth quarter to narrow what had been a 35-point deficit. Will Ark completed 17 of 31 passes for 306 yards and two touchdowns.

NMU
A late scoring flurry by the Northern Michigan University football team fell short, as the Wildcats lost 27-24 to Northwood yesterday afternoon.

MLB
In the American League Divisional Series yesterday, the Houston Astros defeated the Cleveland Indians 3-1 to take a two games to none lead in that set. The New York Yankees downed the Boston Red Sox 6-2 to tie that set at a win per team. Both of those series continue tomorrow.

The National League Divisional Series resume today. The Colorado Rockies host the Milwaukee Brewers this afternoon. Wade Miley will pitch against German Marquez. Milwaukee leads that set two games to none. The Atlanta Braves entertain the Los Angeles Dodgers tonight. L-A leads that set two games to none.

NHL
The Detroit Red Wings will visit the Los Angeles Kings tonight. Because of NFL football on 99.3 The Lift, pregame coverage will begin at 10:05 on KBear 102.3.

NBA
The Detroit Pistons continue their preseason schedule tomorrow night at home against the Brooklyn Nets. Listen for selected Pistons regular-season games on 99.3 The Lift.
