MTU
Michigan Tech forward Alex Petan has been named the WCHA Offensive Player of the Week. Petan had three goals and an assist as the Huskies earn a win and tie at Lake Superior State last weekend.
NHL
The Buffalo Sabres rallied for two goals in the third period, and defeated the Detroit Red Wings 2-1 last night. Brad Richards scored Detroit’s only goal. Petr Mrazek made 28 saves. The Wings are off until Friday, when they host the Vancouver Canucks. Faceoff is at 7:30 on AM 1400 and FM 99.3, WCCY.
NBA
The Detroit Pistons lost a 105-103 overtime game to the Los Angeles Clippers last night. Detroit led by four points with 30 seconds left in regulation, but couldn’t hold it. They had several chances to tie the game in the closing seconds of OT, but couldn’t find the basket. Reggie Jackson led Detroit with 34 points. The Pistons entertain the Boston Celtics tomorrow night. Tip-off is at 7:30 on AM 1400 and FM 99.3, WCCY.
NFL
In last night’s game, the New York Giants defeated the Miami Dolphins 31-24. If you played The Wolf Pro Football Challenge, you must have picked at least 12 games correctly to be eligible to be our weekly winner.
The Detroit Lions will finish the season without Brandon Pettigrew. The veteran tight end tore his ACL in Sunday’s loss to the Rams. It’s the third time in his career that he’s suffered that type of injury.
