– Calumet defeated Houghton 44-31. It’s the first win for the unbeaten Copper Kings over the Gremlins since 1999.
– Hancock got past Ontonagon 42-37 in overtime.
– Dollar Bay-Tamarack City edged Lake Linden-Hubbell 39-34.
– Jeffers defeated Chassell 50-41.
– Baraga cruised past Republic-Michigamme 73-28.
In boys high school hoops last night, Dollar Bay-Tamarack City lost at Wakefield-Marenisco 83-71.
NHL
The Detroit Red Wings will host the St. Louis Blues tonight. Faceoff is at 8:00 on AM 1400 and FM 99.3, WCCY. The Wings will be without Niklas Kronwall, who underwent arthroscopic knee surgery yesterday to fix a problem that’s been bothering him all season. He’ll miss two to four weeks.

The Detroit Pistons play at Houston tonight.

After Saturday’s playoff loss to the Cardinals, Green Bay Packers coach Mike McCarthy said that changes would be made. Those changes began yesterday, when tight ends coach Jerry Fontenot and running backs coach Sam Gash were fired.
Former Detroit Lions coach Jim Schwartz has been named defensive coordinator of the Philadelphia Eagles.

The Detroit Tigers confirmed their deal with outfielder Justin Upton yesterday. It’s a six-year contract which Upton can opt out of after two years.
Milwaukee Brewers catcher Jonathan Lucroy says he’d like to be traded. In an interview with the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, Lucroy acknowledged that the team is rebuilding, and said it’s unrealistic to expect that it will be competitive for the next several seasons. At age 29, he says he’d like to play for a contender.
