The high school boys basketball season opened last night…
– Calumet led by three points at halftime, then pulled away in the second half to earn a 62-40 victory over Hancock.
– Lake Linden-Hubbell overcame a 10-point halftime deficit to defeat Baraga 65-53. Arthur Lyons scored 26 of his 28 points in the second half to power the Lakes’ comeback. Brendan Varline led the Vikings with 22 points.
– Jeffers outscored Bessemer 58-43.
– Chassell raced past Watersmeet 84-53.
– Ewen-Trout Creek got past Ontonagon 58-52.
On the girls hoops schedule tonight…
– Calumet visits Jeffers.

After being swept by Alaska-Anchorage over the weekend, the Michigan Tech hockey team has fallen out of the national top-20 in the latest USCHO.com poll.
NBA
The Detroit Pistons’ four-game winning streak ended last night with a 104-84 loss to the Charlotte Hornets. Kentavious Caldwell-Pope led Detroit with 16 points. Andre Drummond got into foul trouble, and was held to just nine points and nine rebounds. The Pistons will host the Memphis Grizzlies tomorrow night. Tip-off is at 7:30 on AM 1400 and FM 99.3, WCCY.

The Detroit Red Wings will host the Washington Capitals tonight. Faceoff is at 7:30 on AM 1400 and FM 99.3, WCCY.
NFL
In last night’s NFL game, Dan Bailey’s 54-yard field goal with nine seconds remaining lifted the Dallas Cowboys to a 19-16 victory over Washington. If you played The Wolf Pro Football Challenge, you must have picked at least 12 games correctly to be eligible to be our weekly winner.
