Michigan Tech goaltender Jamie Phillips has been named the Defensive Player of the Week by the Western Collegiate Hockey Association. Phillips set a team record with his eighth career shutout against Bowling Green Friday night.
James Henderson from the Michigan Tech football team has been named the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletics Conference Special Teams Player of the Week. Henderson returned a kickoff 91 yards for a touchdown in the Huskies’ season-ending win over Lake Erie on Saturday.

The Northern Michigan University men’s basketball team plays at Minnesota-Duluth tonight.
NHL
Tomas Tatar’s goal in overtime lifted the Detroit Red Wings to a 4-3 victory over the Ottawa Senators last night. The Wings led 3-1 after two periods, but the Senators scored twice against Jimmy Howard in the third period to force overtime. The Wings entertain the Capitals tomorrow night. Faceoff is at 8:00 on AM 1400 and FM 99.3, WCCY.
