The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference rolled out its basketball schedule yesterday, with some significant concessions to the COVID-19 pandemic.

This year, men’s and women’s teams will not travel together. They will play the same opponents each weekend, but one squad will host, while the other travels. To limit travel, schools will play each other twice in the same weekend.

To that end, Michigan Tech’s women’s team will host Purdue Northwest for a pair of games to open the season between January 7th and January 10th. The men’s team will play at Purdue Northwest the same weekend. The Huskies will face Lake Superior State the following weekend, with the men at home, and the women at the Soo. Northern Michigan University will open against Wisconsin Parkside. The specific game dates and times have not yet been set. The exception will be the league’s designated rivalry games. Tech and Northern will meet on a pair of Tuesdays – January 26th, and February 16th.
