In high school hockey yesterday, Jeffers defeated Ashland 6-1. Jonathan Mantila scored twice for the Jets.

The Calumet Wolverines completed a weekend sweep of the Portage Lake Pioneers with a 7-3 victory last night. Logan Rastello scored twice for the Wolverines. Jim Brey, Rory Anderson, Matt Yeo, Stephen Dudenas and Alex Van Wagner also found the net. Yeo also had three assists. Ryan Patrick made 27 saves to get the win. Tristan Foltz, Riley McKay and Jack Fenton scored for the Pioneers. Trevor Lowney stopped 23 shots, and took the loss in net.

The Detroit Red Wings lost to the Florida Panthers 2-1 yesterday afternoon. Thomas Vanek scored Detroit’s only goal. Jimmy Howard stopped 21 shots, and took the loss. The Wings visit the Toronto Maple Leafs tonight. Because of NFL football on 99.3 The Lift, broadcast coverage will begin at 7:10 on KBear 102.3.
