High School

In boys basketball playoff district semifinals last night…
• In Division Three, Calumet’s season ended with a 53-35 loss at Westwood. The Copper Kings led by seven after the first quarter, but were held to just four points in the second quarter, and six in the third. Blake Tarvis led Calumet with 19 points. Ishpeming dispatched Gwinn 66-35, so the Hematites and Patriots will play for the district title tomorrow.
• In Division Four, District 98, Jeffers ousted Baraga 82-33. Lake Linden-Hubbell dispatched Dollar Bay-Tamarack City 71-48. The Jets and Lakes will play for the district title tomorrow at Jeffers.
• In Division Four, District 97 at Ironwood, Ontonagon lost to Ironwood 60-50. Wakefield-Marenisco eliminated Bessemer 70-45. The Cardinals and Red Devils will decide the district title tomorrow in Ironwood.

Both the Houghton and Baraga girls basketball teams will play for regional championships tonight.
• In Division Two, Houghton faces Big Rapids at 7:00 at Petoskey High School. Coverage will begin at 6:40 on the Voice of the Gremlins, 97.7 The Wolf.
• In Division Four, Baraga will face Norway at 6:00 at Marquette.

NHL

The Red Wings snapped their six-game losing streak with a 4-3 win over the Blackhawks last night. Lucas Raymond and Dominik Kubalik netted late goals to bring the Wings from behind.

The Wings host the Bruins Saturday afternoon. Coverage will begin at 12:45 on 99.3 The Lift.

Robby Fabbri left last night’s game in the first period with a lower body injury. He’ll be evaluated today.

NBA

The Pistons entertain the Hornets this evening. Coverage will begin at 6:35 on 99.3 The Lift.

MLB

The Tigers edged the Nationals 2-1 in Grapefruit League play yesterday. Starter Eduardo Rodriguez pitched into the fourth inning, and gave up no runs on four hits.

The Tigers face the Pirates this afternoon. Michael Lorenzen will start for Detroit. Coverage will begin at 1:00 on 99.3 The Lift.

The Brewers defeated Great Britain’s World Baseball Classic team 8-2 yesterday.

Milwaukee returns to Cactus League play today against the Giants. Freddy Peralta will start for the Brewers.
