MLB
Corbin Burnes is no longer a Brewer. Yesterday, Milwaukee traded the former Cy Young Award winner to the Orioles. In exchange, the Crew gets young infielder Joey Ortiz, who is ranked as the majors’ 63rd best prospect, and promising pitcher D.L. Hall, who could be used as a starter, or in relief. Burnes is heading into his final season before free agency, and it was considered unlikely that Milwaukee could sign him to a new long-term deal.
Sled Dog Racing
For the second straight year, there will be no U.P. 200 sled dog race. The 200 and its associated events, the Jack Pine 30 and the Midnight Run, were called off yesterday because of poor trail conditions. The races had been scheduled for February 16th through 18th.
The scrubbing of the Marquette race follows the second-straight cancellation of the Tahquamenon Country race in early January.
Plans continue for the CopperDog 150, which hopes to feature four sled dog races on the Keweenaw Peninsula the first weekend in March.
