Jeffers VB Season Ends in Regional Final – Friday Sports Wrap

High School

Jeffers’ high school volleyball season ended last night with a 3-1 (15-25, 27-25, 23-25, 13-25) loss to Carney-Nadeau in the regional championship game.

Calumet entertains Glen Lake in the Division Six regional football championship game tomorrow. Pregame coverage begins at 12:40 on KBear 102.3 and KBear102.com. The winner will play either Montague or Sanford-Meridian next week in the semifinals.

Finlandia

The Finlandia University men’s hockey team plays at Adrian College tonight and tomorrow afternoon.

The Lions women’s hockey squad skates at Aurora University tonight and tomorrow.

The Finlandia women’s basketball team plays at the Hope College Tip-off Tournament in Holland this weekend. The Lions will face the host Flying Dutchmen tonight, and Saint Mary’s of Indiana tomorrow.

The men’s basketball team plays at Lawrence University tomorrow.

The Finlandia football team wraps up its season at Alma College tomorrow afternoon. 

GLIAC

Hancock High School golf standout Payton Dube has signed a letter of intent to play at Northern Michigan University next year.

The Michigan Tech volleyball team closes its regular season at Lake Superior State University tonight, and Saginaw Valley State University tomorrow.

The MTU women’s basketball team heads to the Minnesota State-Morris Tournament this weekend. They’ll face Saint Cloud State University tonight, and the host team tomorrow.

The Huskies have signed up five new players for next season. They include three U.P. standouts – Emily Nelson from West Iron County, Tessa Leece from Westwood, and Aspen Michelin from Marquette… along with Mady Draak and Lydia Schaible of Green Bay.

The Tech men’s basketball squad plays at Winona State University Sunday afternoon.

The men’s squad picked up one new recruit yesterday – Adam Hobson, from Stougton, Wisconsin. His sister, Hannah, is a member of the Huskies women’s team.

The Northern Michigan University women’s basketball team lost 83-57 at Minnesota State-Mankato last night. The Wildcats will play at Minnesota-Duluth tomorrow.

The NMU men’s team is at a tournament at Minnesota-Duluth, where they’ll play the host team tonight, and Southwest Minnesota State University tomorrow.

The Huskies football team wraps up its season against Northwood University tomorrow at 1:00 at Sherman Field.

The NMU football team concludes its campaign on the road at Ashland University.

Two Michigan Tech soccer players have received GLIAC postseason honors. Freshman Cassie Bonifas was named All-GLIAC Second Team and sophomore Gabby Sgambati earned Honorable Mention votes.

WCHA

The Michigan Tech hockey team skates at Lake Superior State University tonight and tomorrow night.

The NMU hockey squad hosts Alaska Fairbanks tonight and tomorrow night.

GLHL

The Portage Lake Pioneers and the Calumet Wolverines are both off this weekend.

NHL

The Detroit Red Wings couldn’t hold a late lead, and lost to the Los Angeles Kings 3-2 in overtime last night. 

The Wings visit the San Jose Sharks tomorrow. Coverage begins at 10:10 on 99.3 The Lift.

NBA

The Detroit Pistons visit the Charlotte Hornets tonight. Coverage begins at 6:35 on 99.3 The Lift.

NFL

In last night’s NFL contest, the Cleveland Browns shut down the Pittsburgh Steelers 21-7. 

On Sunday, the Detroit Lions host the Dallas Cowboys in a 1:00 game on 99.3 The Lift.

The Green Bay Packers are off this weekend.
