Both Michigan Tech basketball teams play at Davenport University in Grand Rapids tonight.

Both Northern Michigan University squads will play at Grand Valley State University this evening.

NHL

The Detroit Red Wings scored three goals in the third period to force overtime, but eventually lost to the Chicago Blackhawks 5-4 last night. Dylan Larkin and Andreas Athanasiou each found the net twice. Anthony Mantha had three assists. Jimmy Howard gave up four goals before he was replaced by Jonathan Bernier early in the second period. The Wings will host the Minnesota Wild tomorrow. Pregame coverage will start at 7:10 on 99.3 The Lift.

NBA

The Detroit Pistons return to action tomorrow, when they visit the Atlanta Hawks.

MLB

The Detroit Tigers have found their second baseman. Former Pirate Josh Harrison has agreed to a one-year contract, pending a physical. The deal reunites him with shortstop Jordy Mercer, who was his double-play partner for the past few seasons in Pittsburgh.

Hockey Week in Calumet continues with a full slate of youth and adult games through the weekend. The big spaghetti dinner fundraiser will be held Saturday from 3:00 until 6:00 in the Colosseum ballroom. Money raised from that and other Hockey Week events supports the youth hockey program in Calumet. For the full Hockey Week schedule, click here.

This year’s Snowshoeing with Sasquatch event will begin Saturday at 5:00 at the L’Anse Township Park. Hike the two-mile trail with or without snowshoes. There is no charge, but non-perishable food or personal hygiene donations will be accepted to assist the St. Vincent de Paul food pantry in L’Anse. Refreshments will be served. The event is sponsored by Baraga County Trails in Motion.
