High School
Calumet faces Chelsea in the high school hockey tournament semifinals this afternoon. Our broadcast begins at 1:05 in advance of a 1:30 faceoff on KBear102.3 and KBear102.com. Cranbrook and Flint Powers Catholic will meet in the other semifinal this morning at 10:00. Today’s winners will face off for the state championship tomorrow afternoon at 3:00. In boys high school basketball tournament district semifinals last night…
• In Division Four, District 98, Dollar Bay-Tamarack City ousted Lake Linden-Hubbell 63-51. Davin Hill scored 20 for the Blue Bolts, and Connor LeClaire added 18. William Lyons of the Lakes led all scorers with 23. Chassell defeated Republic-Michigamme 77-45. The Blue Bolts and Panthers will tip off for the district title tomorrow afternoon at 2:00 at Chassell.
• In Division Four, District 97, Ewen-Trout Creek advanced with an 80-44 victory over Wakefield-Marenisco. Bessemer eliminated Watersmeet 63-51 in overtime. The Panthers and Speedboys will play for the district title tomorrow.
• In Division Three, Westwood dispatched Ironwood 57-44. Jeffers eliminated L’Anse 76-31. Christian Hocking led the Jets with 20 points, and Levi Frahm added 17. Eli Ostermeyer scored 12 for the Purple Hornets. The Jets and Patriots will play for the district title tomorrow night at 7:00 at Jeffers. Coverage will begin at 6:40 on KBear 102.3 and KBear102.com.

College Hockey
Lake Superior State University begins play in the NCAA Division I hockey tournament tonight. The Lakers are seeded third in the Bridgeport, Connecticut, regional. They’ll face second-seed Massachusetts at 6:30.
College Volleyball
The Michigan Tech volleyball team plays at Grand Valley State tonight and tomorrow. The Huskies are ranked 20th in the nation this week.
College Soccer
The MTU soccer team plays at Northern Michigan University Sunday.
The Finlandia University women’s soccer team has added a new recruit. Chelsie Brown is entering her senior year at Marana High School in Tucson, Arizona.
College Baseball
The Finlandia baseball team dropped both ends of a doubleheader at Wisconsin-Stevens Point yesterday, 10-0 and 16-1. The Lions will play two at Wisconsin-Whitewater tomorrow afternoon.
The Finlandia softball team visits Northland College for a doubleheader Sunday.
NHL
The Detroit Red Wings lost to the Nashville Predators 7-1 last night. Rocco Grimaldi scored four goals – three in the first period. Thomas Greiss gave up three goals in the first eight minutes. Calvin Pickard replaced him.

NBA
The Detroit Pistons host the Brooklyn Nets tonight. Coverage begins at 6:35 on 99.3 The Lift.
Before the trade deadline passed yesterday, the Pistons sent guard Delon Wright to the Sacramento Kings. In exchange, they get point guard Cory Joseph, and two second-round draft picks.
MLB
In Grapefruit League play, the Detroit Tigers and the Toronto Blue Jays played to a 3-3 tie last night. Casey Mize allowed two runs over four innings. He struck out nine, and walked none. Eric Haase homered.
The Tigers face the Pittsburgh Pirates this afternoon. Matthew Boyd will start for Detroit.
Detroit continues to trim its roster in advance of opening day next Thursday. Yesterday, infielder Isaac Paredes and catcher Jake Rogers were assigned to Toledo.
In Cactus League action, the Milwaukee Brewers and the San Francisco Giants wound up with a 2-2 tie last night. Brett Anderson pitched into the sixth inning, and gave up two runs.
The Brewers will play the Chicago White Sox this afternoon. Freddy Peralta is scheduled to start.
