In boys basketball last night…
• Jeffers remained unbeaten, with a 79-65 victory over Houghton. Ashton Kunishige led the Jets with 31 points. Levi Frahm scored 20, and Matthew Schutz added 15. Kyle Primeau scored 21 for the Gremlins.
• Hancock defeated West Iron County 53-45.
• Dollar Bay-Tamarack City edged Ontonagon 69-67.
• Lake Linden-Hubbell fell to Ironwood 50-46.
• Chassell lost to Watersmeet 90-59.
• Baraga lost at Wakefield-Marenisco 74-48.

In girls play last evening…
• Houghton defeated Jeffers 65-43.
• Lake Linden-Hubbell downed Ironwood 53-33.

In high school hockey last night…
• Calumet outskated Negaunee 6-3.
• Hancock edged Jeffers 3-2. Max Heinonen, Calvin Heinonen and Todd Kilpela scored for the Bulldogs. Bennett Sturos had two assists. Dan Wroblewski made 21 saves.

College Basketball

The Finlandia University women’s basketball team held off Wisconsin-Superior 64-58 last night. The Yellowjackets led with 84 seconds remaining, but late baskets by Ellie Djerf and Natalie Bartle sealed the win for the Lions. Bartle led Finlandia with 20 points, and Maija Rice added 19.

NHL

The Red Wings shaded the Sharks 3-2 in overtime last night. Goals by Adam Erne and Michael Rasmussen gave Detroit a 2-1 lead late in regulation, but Logan Couture’s goal with 17 seconds remaining forced the extra period. Andrew Copp netted the game-winner 25 seconds into overtime. Ville Husso made 28 saves.

The Wings visit the Canadiens tomorrow. Coverage will begin at 6:45 on 99.3 The Lift.
