In high school hockey last night, Jeffers outskated the Northwest Icemen 7-1. Evan Larson and Matthew Halonen each scored twice for the Jets.

In high school boys basketball last night…
– Dollar Bay-Tamarack City outscored Lake Linden-Hubbell 71-42. Jaden Janke led the Blue Bolts with 22 points, including the 1,000th of his career.
– Chassell downed Bessemer 59-43. Elijah Soumis led the Panther attack with 20 points.
– Baraga edged Republic-Michigamme 44-39 in overtime.
– Ewen-Trout Creek shut down L’Anse 64-30. Jake Witt had 23 points and 12 rebounds.
– Ontonagon fell to Wakefield-Marenisco 65-63 in double overtime.

In girls action last night, Houghton dispatched Kingsford 62-39. Kara Pietila scored 19 for the Gremlins.

Finlandia
The Finlandia University men’s hockey team fell 4-2 at Trine University last night. Paul Lochner and Jaysen Dahlquist scored for the Lions. Marcus Gloss made 48 saves in the loss. Finlandia plays at Adrian College this afternoon.

The Finlandia women’s hockey team dropped a narrow 1-0 decision at Concordia-Wisconsin last night. Annah Smiddy kept the Lions in the game with 45 saves. Finlandia skates at Concordia-Wisconsin again this afternoon.

The Finlandia women’s basketball team lost 69-62 at Crown College last night. Julia Daavettila led the Lions with 28 points. Molly Berg and Kelsie Richards each added 10. The Lions play at the University of Northwestern in St. Paul today.

The Finlandia men’s team also plays at the University of Northwestern today, and then visits Martin Luther College tomorrow.

MTU/NMU
The Michigan Tech hockey team suffered a 4-3 loss at Ferris State last night. Greyson Reitmeier, Gavin Gould and Thomas Beretta scored for the Huskies. Patrick Munson started the game in goal for Tech, and gave up the first three Ferris goals. Devin Kero replaced him early in the second period, and allowed the eventual game-winner. Munson returned for a scoreless third period. The Huskies skate at Big Rapids again tonight.

The NMU hockey squad took over first place in the Western Collegiate Hockey Association with a 4-2 victory at Alaska-Anchorage last night. Those teams play again tonight. The Wildcats now lead Minnesota State by one point in the season standings, although MSU has played one less game.

Both Tech basketball teams will entertain Northern Michigan University tomorrow afternoon. The women’s game will start at 1:00, and the men’s contest at 3:00.

GLHL
The Portage Lake Pioneers lost to the Marquette Mutineers 10-4 last night. The Pioneers will visit the Fox Cities Ice Dogs tonight.

The Calumet Wolverines have the weekend off.

NBA
The Detroit Pistons entertain the Oklahoma City Thunder today. Tip-off is at 5:00 on 99.3 The Lift.

NHL
The Detroit Red Wings are off for the all-star break. They’ll return to action Wednesday at home against the San Jose Sharks. Pregame coverage will begin at 7:40 on 99.3 The Lift.
