Husso, Wings Blank Canadiens – Wednesday Sports Wrap

NHL

The Red Wings shut down the Canadiens 5-0 last night. Ville Husso stopped 24 shots in his return after missing time with an injury. David Perron had two goals and an assist. Lucas Raymond, Joe Veleno and Matt Luff also scored.

The Wings have won four of their last five games, and entertain the Sabres tomorrow night. Coverage will begin at 6:45 on 99.3 The Lift.

NBA

Jaden Ivey scored 30 points, but the Pistons lost to the Heat 118-105 last night. Jalen Duren added 20 points, and grabbed 14 rebounds for Detroit.

The Pistons have lost 10 straight, and 24 of their last 26, and welcome the Nets this evening. Coverage will begin at 6:35 on 99.3 The Lift.

MLB

The Tigers earned their second straight win over the Astros last night, defeating the defending World Series champions 6-3. Matt Manning pitched into the sixth, gave up two runs, and got the win. Spencer Torkelson had a home run and a double, and drove in three runs. Riley Greene had three hits.

The Tigers visit the Astros again this afternoon. Eduardo Rodriguez will face Cristian Javier. Coverage will begin at 1:45 on 99.3 The Lift.

The Brewers shut out the Mets for the second straight game last evening, earning a 9-0 victory. Wade Miley scattered five hits over six innings to earn the win. Brian Anderson and Garrett Mitchell each blasted two home runs, and Rowdy Tellez hit one out.

Those teams play again this afternoon in Milwaukee. David Peterson will start against David Peterson.

Upcoming Local Sports Broadcasts

The Portage Lake Pioneers and the Calumet Wolverines play for the historic Gibson Cup this weekend. Game One will be Friday at the Colosseum. Game two will be Saturday at Dee Stadium, with game three next Wednesday, if needed. All games will start at 7:30, with pregame coverage beginning at 7:10 on KBear 102.3.
