– Jeffers lost to Chelsea 3-1 Gaylord D-3 Challenge.

– Reid Pietila scored all five goals for the Gremlins as Houghton defeated Utica Eisenhower 5-1.

– Houghton fell to Negaunee 59-47. Sloane Zenner scored a personal best 25 points for the Gremlins.
– Calumet shut down Northland Pines 71-35.
– Hancock defeated Dollar Bay-Tamarack City 36-26.
– Lake Linden-Hubbell stopped Ewen-Trout Creek 62-21.
– Ontonagon edged Baraga 38-35.
– L’Anse fell to Westwood 51-42.

MTU
The Michigan Tech hockey team cruised past Lake Superior State 6-2 Saturday night. Alex Petan and Joel L’Esperance each scored twice. On Friday, the Huskies skated to a 1-1 tie at Lake State.
The Michigan Tech women’s basketball team scored 28 points in the third quarter, and pulled away to a 71-65 victory over Wayne State yesterday. Danielle Blake scored her 1,000th career point in the game.
The Tech men’s team couldn’t old a nine-point halftime lead, and lost to the Warriors 77-64. Kyle Monroe led the Huskies with 19 points.
NMU
The Northern Michigan University hockey team slipped past Ferris State 3-2 in overtime Saturday night. The Wildcats lost to the Bulldogs 4-2 Friday night.
The NMU women’s basketball team lost 60-42 at Findlay Saturday afternoon. The Wildcats men’s team fell to the Oilers 73-71.
Finlandia
The Finlandia University women’s basketball team dropped an 83-58 decision at St. Scholastica on Saturday. Dollar Bay’s Julia Daavettila led the Lions with 23 points and seven rebounds. The Lady Lions lost 79-46 at Wisconsin-Superior Friday night.
The Finlandia men’s team made a late comeback, but fell to St. Scholastica 68-66 on Saturday. Terrance Fuller scored 18 for the Lions, and Marcus Geralds added 17 points and grabbed 11 rebounds. Finlandia dropped an 83-76 decision at Wisconsin Superior Friday night.
The Finlandia men’s hockey team lost 9-0 at Wisconsin-River Falls Saturday, and 3-0 Friday night.
The Finlandia women’s team fell to Hamline University 3-0 on Saturday, and lost at Wisconsin-Eau Claire 8-0 on Friday.

In Great Lakes Hockey League play…
– The Calumet Wolverines lost to the Fox Cities Ice Dogs 3-2 Saturday night. On Friday, the Wolverines defeated the DePere Deacons 4-3 in overtime. Logan Rastello netted the game-winner.
– The result of the Portage Lake Pioneers’ game Saturday at Mosinee was not reported. The Pioneers lost to the Papermakers 8-3 Friday night.

The Detroit Pistons will host the Los Angeles Clippers tonight.
NHL
The Detroit Red Wings entertain the Buffalo Sabres tonight.
NFL
Todd Gurley rushed for 140 yards, as the Detroit Lions lost to the St. Louis Rams 21-14 yesterday afternoon.
The Green Bay Packers cemented their hold on first place in the NFC North with a 28-7 victory over the Dallas Cowboys. Eddie Lacy ran for 124 yards.
In last night’s game, the New England Patriots shut down the Houston Texans 27-6.
