The Detroit Lions interviewed New England Patriots defensive coordinator Matt Patricia for their vacant head coaching position yesterday. Some observers feel he’s the front-runner for the job. Patricia spent 12 seasons with Lions’ general manager Matt Quinn when Quinn worked for the Patriots. Quinn is scheduled to interview Carolina Panthers defensive coordinator Steve Wilks next week.

Meanwhile, the Lions have reportedly denied the Green Bay Packers an opportunity to interview defensive coordinator Teryl Austin. Austin is a candidate for Detroit’s head coaching job. Green Bay is searching for a new defensive coordinator, after releasing Dom Capers. The Lions did allow Austin to interview with the Cincinnati Bengals, but apparently drew the line when a division competitor called.

Two Detroit Lions have been named to the Associated Press All-Pro team. Linebacker Darius Slay and return specialist Jamal Agnew become the first first-teamers on the squad since 2014. Green Bay Packers tackle David Bakhtiari was named to the second team.

MLB
The Milwaukee Brewers have reportedly agreed to terms with free agent left-handed reliever Boone Logan. Logan played for the Cleveland Indians last season, but missed much of the campaign with a shoulder injury. He has passed a physical, though, and the contract is said to be worth 2.5-million dollars for 2018, with a club option for 2019.
