The Michigan Tech women’s basketball team has fallen from eighth to 16th in the latest Division Two coaches poll, following their loss to Concordia-St. Paul over the weekend.
A proposed change to an NCAA recruiting rule has some of the smaller Division One college hockey programs crying foul. The change would lower the age limit for incoming recruits from 21 to 20. Older players would lose a year of eligibility for each year they’re over the age limit. The change was proposed by the Big 10. Northern Michigan University coach Walt Kyle is one of many who see it as a move to squeeze smaller schools out of Division One hockey by limiting the number of available players. Coaches voted 49-11 against it in a recent straw poll. Their vote doesn’t count, though. The Big 10 is the only hockey conference that has the right to bypass other conferences, and bring its proposals directly to the NCAA. The proposal’s fate will be decided early next year by an NCAA committee. You can read more about it in a College Hockey News article here.
