In golf yesterday, at the WestPAC championships at Iron Mountain…
• Houghton won the boys team title, shading Calumet by just three strokes. Westwood was third, followed by Hancock and Negaunee. Brady Schmierer of the Gremlins placed third individually.
• The Houghton girls completed the sweep, with a narrow three-stroke victory over Westwood. Negaunee was third, and Hancock fourth.
At the U.P. Division Three track and field regional at Baraga yesterday…
• Ontonagon took the girls team title. Baraga, Lake Linden-Hubbell, Chassell and Ewen-Trout Creek rounded out the top five. Makennah Uotila led the Gladiators, with wins in the 400 and 800-meter runs, and the long jump. Baraga’s Jaylyne Lindemann took the discus throw and shot put.
• Dollar Bay-Tamarack City won the boys competition, with Lake Linden-Hubbell, Bessemer, Ewen-Trout Creek and Baraga completing the top five. Johnny Norland of the Blue Bolts won the 400 and 800-meter runs. Connor LeClaire took the 110 and 300-meter hurdles. Chassell’s Kolson Kytta claimed the 1600 and 3200-meter runs. Baraga’s Christian Brown won the discus throw and the shot put.

The Division One track and field regional will be held today at Houghton. The Division Two regional will take place tomorrow at West Iron County.

In the NBA tournament last night…
• The Grizzles edged the Spurs 100-96.
• The Lakers shaded the Warriors 103-100.
Tonight, the Wizards will host the Pacers. The winner will get the eighth seed in the Eastern Conference.
NHL
In the NHL playoffs yesterday…
• The Bruins got past the Capitals 3-2 in double overtime. Boston leads that series 2-1.
• The Hurricanes blanked the Predators 2-0. Carolina leads that set 2-0.
• The Jets outscored the Oilers 4-1. Winnipeg takes a 1-0 lead in that series.
• The Avalanche buried the Blues 6-3. Colorado leads that series 2-0.
Today…
• The Panthers visit the Lightning. Tampa Bay is up 2-0 in that series.
• The Islanders host the Penguins. That set is tied 1-1.
• The Maple Leafs welcome the Canadiens for the opening game of their series.
• The Wild entertain the Golden Knights. That series is tied 1-1.
MLB
The Detroit Tigers completed a series sweep in Seattle, with a 6-2 victory over the Mariners last night. Tarik Skubal gave up a two-run homer in the first inning, but settled down, pitched through the fifth, struck out nine, and earned his first win of the season. Harold Castro had three hits and drove in three runs for Detroit.
The Tigers have today off, and begin a series against the Royals in Kansas City tomorrow. Coverage begins at 7:50 on 99.3 The Lift.
The Milwaukee Brewers fell to the Kansas City Royals 6-4 last night. Corbin Burnes took the tough loss, giving up two runs on two hits over six innings, and striking out nine. He left with a one-run lead, but K-C scored twice off J.P. Feyereisen in the seventh, and added two more off Brad Boxberger in the eighth to seal the win. Kolton Wong had three hits for the Brewers, and Jackie Bradley, Jr. homered.
Milwaukee also has today off, and will begin a set against the Reds in Cincinnati tomorrow.
