High School
In high school hockey last night, Houghton cruised to an 8-0 mercy rule win over Negaunee. The game ended after the second period. Brandon Norkol had a hat trick for the Gremlins. Milo Schaefer, Jiseung Choi, Camden Markham, Kade Farrell and Nathan Erva each scored once. The Gremlins outshot the Miners 54-1.

– Jeffers downed Chassell 61-42.
In boys hoops tonight, Baraga plays at L’Anse.
In girls action last night…
– Calumet held off Ishpeming 71-67. Elli Djerf scored 28 for the Copper Kings.
– Baraga downed L’Anse 57-41. Corina Jahfetson led the Vikings with 18 points. Maija Rice scored 18 for the Purple Hornets.

The Northern Michigan University men’s basketball team lost to Hillsdale College 70-52 last night. The Wildcats will host Ripon College tomorrow.
The Michigan Tech men’s basketball team will host Algoma University tomorrow at 1:00.
Finlandia
Both Finlandia University basketball teams lost their final games at the Orlando Classic last night…
– The women fell 70-55 to North Park University. Bailey Froberg and Casana Ryynanen each scored 10 for the Lions.
– The men lost 98-79 to Carleton College. Kaleb Kirksey and Dylan Underwood led the Lions with 17 points apiece.
Great Lakes Hockey League
The Calumet Wolverines and Portage Lake Pioneers will play another home-and-home series this weekend. Tonight’s game will begin at 7:30 at Dee Stadium, and tomorrow’s at 7:30 at the Colosseum.
NHL
The Detroit Red Wings will visit the Toronto Maple Leafs tomorrow. Because of NFL football, coverage will begin at 6:40 on KBear 102.3.
Eric Comrie’s brief stint as a Detroit Red Wings goaltender is over. The Wings traded minor-leaguer Vili Saarijarvi to get Comrie from the Coyotes when Jimmy Howard was injured several weeks ago. With Howard ready to return, Detroit had to try to get Comrie through waivers to send him down to Grand Rapids. It didn’t work – Comrie was claimed by the Winnipeg Jets.
Howard will make one more rehab start for the Griffins tonight, and will rejoin the Wings for their game Sunday. Calvin Pickard has been called up from Grand Rapids to back up Jonathan Bernier in tomorrow’s game.
NBA
The Detroit Pistons visit the Boston Celtics tonight. Pregame coverage starts at 7:05 on 99.3 The Lift. Christian Wood will miss tonight’s game, after hurting his knee in Wednesday’s loss to the Raptors.

In the NFL tomorrow, the Texans visit the Buccaneers at 1:00, the Bills play at New England at 4:30, and the Rams visit the 49ers at 8:15. We’ll broadcast all those games on 99.3 The Lift.
