Houghton Hockey Earns Fourth Shutout – Saturday Sports Wrap

High School

In high school hockey last night…
• Houghton blanked De La Salle 3-0. Gab Carlson, Landon Stevens and Connor Arko scored for the Gremlins. Cam Markham had two assists. Bryant Lee earned his second shutout of the season in net, as the Gremlins outshot the Pilots 39-12. The Gremlins improve to 8-0.
• Calumet fell 4-0 to defending Division Two state champion Hartland. Aksel Loukus made 31 saves, as the Eagles outshot the Copper Kings 35-11.
• Hancock lost to Escanaba 4-2. Sam Bastian and Jackson Sintkowski scored for the Bulldogs. Saku Cunard made 20 saves.

Today…

College Basketball

The Michigan Tech women’s team hosts Finlandia today at 6:00.

The Northern women’s team entertains Illinois-Springfield today.

The Finlandia men’s basketball team plays at Northern tomorrow afternoon.

College Hockey

The Michigan Tech hockey team lost 3-0 at Lake Superior State last night, despite outshooting the Lakers 41-16. Blake Pietila took the loss in net. Those teams skate again tonight at the Soo.

The Northern Michigan and Finlandia hockey teams have the weekend off.

GLHL

The Portage Lake Pioneers host the Marquette Mutineers tonight at 7:30.

The Calumet Wolverines entertain the De Pere Deacons tonight at 7:30.

NHL

The Red Wings host the Senators this afternoon.

NBA

The Pistons lost to the Kings 122-113 last night. Bojan Bogdanovic led Detroit with 22 points. Jalen Duren scored 15, and grabbed 14 rebounds.

The Pistons entertain the Nets tomorrow night.
