High School

In high school hockey last evening…
• Houghton spotted Calumet an early lead, then came back to claim a 4-1 victory.
• Hancock concluded its regular season with a 7-2 loss to Marquette. The Bulldogs finish with a record of 17-7-1.

In hockey tonight…
• Jeffers wraps up its regular season at home against Negaunee.

In high school boys basketball last night…
• Houghton lost to Marquette 90-66.
• Chassell outscored Republic-Michigamme 62-38. Eli Danison led the Panthers with 24 points, and Brayden Larson added 11.
• The Lake Linden-Hubbell game against L’Anse was canceled. The Lakes will replace the contest with a game against Forest Park next Wednesday at the SDC.

In girls action…
• Hancock fell to Westwood 37-34.
• Baraga lost to Ishpeming 70-40.
• Lake Linden-Hubbell downed L’Anse 68-34.
• Ewen-Trout Creek got past Northland Pines 46-37.

On the boys schedule tonight…
• Dollar Bay-Tamarack City hosts Hancock for Senior and Parents Night. The varsity game will tip off at 6:00.

NHL

The Red Wings suffered an ugly 8-4 loss to the Oilers last night. Alex DeBrincat, Joe Veleno, Patrick Kane and David Perron scored for Detroit. Ville Husso made his first start since he was injured December 6th, and it was a short one. After stopping six of seven shots, he left the game with a lower body injury. Coach Derek Lalonde said he’s not sure if it’s related to Husso’s earlier injury. Alex Lyon replaced him, and allowed seven goals on 29 shots. Edmonton’s Connor McDavid became just the fourth player in NHL history to record six assists in a game.

The Wings skate at Vancouver tomorrow night. Coverage will start at 9:45 on 99.3 The Lift.

NBA

The Pistons lost to the Lakers 125-111 last night. Ausar Thompson led Detroit with 19 points. James Wiseman added 18.

The Pistons will call on the Suns this evening. Coverage will begin at 8:45 on 99.3 The Lift.

MLB

Pitchers and catchers report to Tigers spring training camp in Lakeland, Florida today. Position players are due Monday. Brewers’ pitchers and catchers report tomorrow, with position players due on Tuesday. Both teams open their spring exhibition schedules a week from Saturday.
