In hockey Saturday…
• Houghton scored five times in the third period, and buried Kingsford 6-2. Landon Stevens had two goals and two assists for the Huskies. Camden Markham had a goal and four assists, Gab Carlson had a goal and three assists, and Wyatt Jenkins and Mike Maillette also found the net. Bryant Lee made 17 saves.
• Hancock fell to Saginaw Heritage 4-3. Sam Bastian, Paul Olson and Todd Kilpela scored for the Bulldogs. Dan Wroblewski made 29 saves.

College Basketball

Both Michigan Tech basketball teams welcome Ferris State today – the women at 1:00, and the men at 3:00.

Both Northern teams host Lake Superior State this afternoon.

The Michigan Tech hockey team had the weekend off.

Northern defeated Ferris State 5-2 Saturday.

The Finlandia women’s hockey team lost 3-0 at Concordia-Wisconsin Saturday.

The Finlandia men’s team dropped a 4-1 decision to Hamline Saturday. Kevin Bostwick netted the Lions’ only goal.

The Calumet Wolverines lost to the Fond du Lac Bears 9-2 Saturday night.

The Portage Lake Pioneers had the weekend off.

NHL

Nils Lundqvist’s goal with 31 seconds remaining in overtime gave the Stars a 3-2 victory over the Red Wings Saturday afternoon. Dylan Larkin scored for Detroit, and David Perron found the net in his 1,000th career NHL game. Ville Husso stopped 30 shots.
