High School
In high school hockey last night, Houghton blanked Hancock 2-0. Jimmy Pietila made 20 saves to earn the shutout for the Gremlins.

In boys basketball last evening…
– Lake Linden-Hubbell defeated Hancock 61-52
– Calumet edged Negaunee 63-60. Eli McParlan led the Copper Kings with 22 points. Matt Ojala had a dozen points and a dozen assists.
– Westwood shut down L’Anse 47-19.
– Dollar Bay-Tamarack City routed Republic-Michigamme 71-37. Connor LeClaire scored 21 for the Blue Bolts.
– Jeffers steamrolled Baraga 52-27.
– Ontonagon got past Watersmeet 56-48.
– Ewen-Trout Creek fell to Wakefield-Marenisco 63-56. Eli Nordine scored 20 for the Panthers.

Finlandia
The Finlandia University men’s basketball team lost to North Central University 83-58 last night. The Lions never led, after the Cardinals scored the first 11 points of the game. Jaden Janke led Finlandia with 19 points.

The Finlandia women’s team plays at Calvin College in Grand Rapids this evening.

NMU
The Northern Michigan University hockey team dropped a 2-1 decision at eighth-ranked Notre Dame last night.

NBA
Blake Griffin scored 30 points, as the Detroit Pistons downed the New York Knicks 115-108 last night. Andre Drummond grabbed 14 rebounds. The Pistons welcome the Chicago Bulls Friday evening. Pregame coverage begins at 6:35 on 99.3 The Lift.

NHL
The Detroit Red Wings entertain the Saint Louis Blues tonight. Pregame coverage begins at 6:40 on 99.3 The Lift.

MLB
The Detroit Tigers have reportedly reached a one-year deal with free agent left-hander Matt Moore. It won’t be official until he passes a physical. Moore can start or work from the bullpen. He struggled with the Texas Rangers last season, with a 6.79 earned run average.
