High School

At the annual MacInnes Holiday Classic last night…
• Houghton remained unbeaten by blanking Fond du Lac 3-0. Mike Maillette had two goals for the Gremlins, and Connor Arko added one. Bryant Lee earned the shutout in net, as the Gremlins outshot the Cardinals 33-14. Hear the game replay here.
• Hancock edged Calumet 2-1. Cam Anderson gave the Copper Kings an early lead, but the Bulldogs got goals from Damien Colombe late in the first period and Bennett Sturos early in the second, then held on. The ‘Dogs outshot the Kings 34-17. Hear the game replay here.

Tonight… 
• Calumet faces Fond du Lac in the consolation match at 5:30.
• Hancock and Houghton will play for the title at 7:30.

In boys basketball last evening…

 • Jeffers fell to Ishpeming 75-72 – the first loss of the season for the Jets.

In boys action tonight…
• Jeffers visits Westwood.

In girls play today…
• Baraga faces Kingsford at 3:00 in a semifinal game at the Negaunee Holiday Tournament. The host Miners will face Manton in the other semifinal.

College Hockey

The 57th Great Lakes Invitational hockey tournament opens today at Van Andel Arena in Grand Rapids. Michigan Tech faces Alaska at 3:30, and Michigan State takes on Ferris State at 7:00.

NHL

The Wild scored four goals in the final period, and buried the Red Wings 6-3 last evening. Patrick Kane scored early for Detroit. Alex DeBrincat’s power play goal early in the third period tied the game at two, before Minnesota scored three straight. By the time Daniel Sprong added a late tally, the game was out of hand. James Reimer took the loss in net.

The Wings have lost six of their last seven, and host the Predators tomorrow night. Coverage will begin at 6:45 on 99.3 The Lift.

NBA

The Pistons will try to break their epic 27-game losing streak when they visit the Celtics tonight.

NFL

In tonight’s NFL game…
• The Jets visit the Browns. Coverage will start at 7:30 on 99.3 The Lift.
