In high school volleyball tournament play last night…
• In Division Two, Houghton eliminated Gladstone 3-0 in one district semifinal. Escanaba advanced with a 3-0 victory over Kingsford. The Gremlins will play the Eskymoes in Escanaba tomorrow night for the district title.
Tonight…
• In Division Three, Hancock plays at Calumet at 7:00 in one district semifinal. Jeffers visits L’Anse at 7:00 in the other.
• In Division Four, Lake Linden-Hubbell meets Dollar Bay-Tamarack City in one semifinal. Chassell was to have faced Ontonagon, but that game has been canceled because of the Gladiators’ COVID-19 shutdown.
NFL
Neither the Detroit Lions nor the Green Bay Packers made any moves yesterday, on the final day of the NFL trading deadline.
The Packers yesterday added linebacker Kamal Martin and running back Jamaal Williams to the reserve/COVID-19 list. That means they have either tested positive for the coronavirus, or have been in close contact with someone who has. The Packers are undergoing the NFL’s COVID-19 protocol. At this point, tomorrow night’s game against the 49ers is still on the schedule.

The Red Wings have signed forward Anthony Mantha to a new, four-year contract. It’s said to be worth $5.7 million per season.
