In high school hockey last night…
• Marquette buried Houghton 9-1. Landon Stevens scored the Gremlins’ only goal. The win clinches a share of the Great Lakes Conference title for the Redmen.
• Calumet shut down Kingsford 7-1. Paul Sturos had a hat trick, Braydon Cima scored twice, Jackson Rilei had a goal and three assists, and Ayden Williams scored. Bruce Parisot made 16 saves.
• Hancock downed Escanaba 5-3.
The regular hockey season ends tonight…
• Calumet skates at Jeffers, in a game that was rescheduled from January 18th. Coverage will begin at 5:40 on the Voice of the Copper Kings, KBear 102.3. A victory by the Copper Kings would earn them a share of the Great Lakes Conference crown.
In boys high school basketball last night…
• Calumet lost at Westwood 64-19.
• Lake Linden-Hubbell smashed Republic-Michigamme 68-20. Danny Marcotte led the Lakes with 19.
In girls action…
• Houghton downed Marquette 59-43.
• Calumet dispatched West Iron County 61-36. Marybeth Halonen paced the Copper Kings with 23 points.
• Hancock shut down Lake Linden-Hubbell 65-29.
• Jeffers outscored Chassell 55-39. Sara Johnson scored 24 for the Jets. Ally Etelamaki and Tricia Pietila each had nine for the Panthers.
The Ewen-Trout Creek at Ontonagon games were rescheduled. The girls game will be played next Wednesday. The boys contest will be played tonight.

In girls-boys doubleheaders this evening…
• L’Anse plays at West Iron County – the boys at 6:30 Eastern Time, and the girls at 8:00.
• Dollar Bay-Tamarack City plays at Baraga – the girls at 5:45, and the boys at 7:20 for Parents Night.
Houghton will compete at the U.P. swimming and diving championships at Marquette this weekend. The diving competition takes place today, with the swim meet tomorrow.

College Basketball
Trent Bell passed the 1,000 career point mark, as the Michigan Tech men’s basketball team defeated Saginaw Valley State 77-71 yesterday. Bell led the Huskies with 19 points, as they won their eighth straight game.
The Tech women’s team overcame a slow start, and stopped the Cardinals 65-54. Sloane Zenner had a career-best 16 points.
Both Tech teams will host Wayne State tomorrow – the women at noon, and the men at 2:00.
The Northern Michigan women’s team fell to Wayne State last night 61-37. The NMU men’s team defeated the Warriors 65-53.
Both NMU teams welcome Saginaw Valley State tomorrow.
College Hockey
The Michigan Tech hockey team skates at Ferris State tonight and tomorrow.
The Northern Michigan hockey team visits Bowling Green.
The Finlandia women’s hockey team concludes its regular season at home against Concordia-Wisconsin this afternoon and tomorrow. Coverage will begin at 1:10 this afternoon and 2:10 tomorrow on the Voice of the Lions, 99.3 The Lift.
College Volleyball
The Finlandia volleyball team has added a new recruit. Natalee Kragie played high school ball at Stephenson.
GLHL
The Portage Lake Pioneers host the Eagle River Falcons tonight. Faceoff is at 7:30 at Dee Stadium. The Pioneers welcome the West Bend Bombers tomorrow night, with an 8:15 faceoff.
The Calumet Wolverines entertain the Bombers tonight. The puck will drop at 8:30 at the Colosseum.
NHL
Thomas Griess made 37 saves, as the Detroit Red Wings edged the New York Rangers 3-2 in a shootout last night. Troy Stecher and Dylan Larkin scored in regulation for the Wings. Lucas Raymond and Pius Suter found the net in the six-round shootout.
The Wings are off until Wednesday, when they host the Colorado Avalanche. Coverage will begin at 7:15 on 99.3 The Lift.
NBA
After the All-Star break, the Detroit Pistons host the Cleveland Cavaliers Thursday night. Coverage will begin at 6:35 on 99.3 The Lift.
