High School Sports Season Ends – Saturday Sports Wrap

High School

In the wake of Governor Gretchen Whitmer’s cancellation of face-to-face K-12 instruction for the remainder of the school year, the Michigan High School Athletic Association has officially ended all spring sports, along with the remainder of any unfinished winter sports tournaments. No champions will be named in the unfinished winter tournaments, although district and regional titles will be preserved.

GLIAC

Michigan Tech women’s basketball player Cassidy Trotter has earned a Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Commissioner’s Award. Six male and six female athletes from the league are awarded the honor after the fall, winter and spring seasons based on athletic performance and academic excellence.

Finlandia

The Finlandia University women’s soccer team has released its 2020 schedule. The Lions will play 14 games – only four at home. The soccer squad is coming off back-to-back winning seasons, and reached the American Collegiate Athletic Association tournament championship game last fall for the first time. See the schedule here.

Finlandia women’s basketball player Katie Lundeen has been recognized as one of the top scorers in Michigan last season. Final statistics show Lundeen averaged 17.08 points per game, seventh best among all four-year schools in the state.
