High School
Full practices and competition for high school basketball and hockey teams can resume today, after a long pause for COVID-19 concerns. There are a number of games listed on local high school schedules, although it’s not certain how many will actually be played on the first day back.

• Hancock is scheduled to play at Escanaba at 6:00.
In girls basketball
• Houghton is scheduled to play at Baraga.
In boys basketball
• Calumet is scheduled to host Iron Mountain.
• Baraga is scheduled to play at Wakefield-Marenisco.

College Hockey
Northern Michigan University earned a split of its weekend series against Lake Superior State University with a 4-3 victory yesterday. AJ Vanderbeck had a hat trick for the Wildcats.
College Basketball
The NMU men’s team completed a weekend sweep of Northwood University with a 74-63 victory yesterday.
NHL
The Detroit Red Wings stunned the Florida Panthers 4-1 yesterday afternoon. After a scoreless first period, Marc Staal and Givani Smith scored in the second frame. Robby Fabbri and Vadislav Namestnikov completed the scoring. Thomas Greiss made 36 saves, and finally earned his first win in net for Detroit.
After snapping their eight-game losing streak, the Wings skate at Florida again tomorrow evening. Coverage begins at 6:45 on 99.3 The Lift.
NBA
The Detroit Pistons host the Brooklyn Nets tomorrow.
NFL
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers routed the Kansas City Chiefs 31-9 in the Super Bowl last evening. Tom Brady threw three touchdown passes, including two to Rob Gronkowski, and was named the game’s Most Valuable Player. The Bucs’ defense intercepted two Patrick Mahomes passes. It’s the second Super Bowl victory for the Buccaneers, and the seventh for Brady.
