MLB
Yuan Moncada’s sacrifice fly off José Cisnero in the top of the 10th inning gave the Chicago White Sox a 5-4 victory over the Detroit Tigers last night. The Tigers had forced extra innings when Daz Cameron hit a two-run homer to tie the contest in the bottom of the ninth, minutes after the game resumed following a 49-minute rain delay. Nomar Mazara also homered for Detroit. Tarik Skubal gave up four runs over six innings.
The Tigers host the White Sox again today. José Ureña will start against Dylan Cease. Coverage begins at 3:50 on 99.3 The Lift.
The Milwaukee Brewers scored five runs in the seventh inning, and defeated the Pittsburgh Pirates 7-4 last evening. The big inning featured a two-run double by Christian Yelich, and three straight bases-loaded walks with two outs. Pirates hurlers issued 11 free passes in the contest. Brandon Woodruff sparkled again, giving up two runs on four hits over seven innings.
The Brewers entertain the Pirates again this afternoon. Corbin Burnes will pitch against Chad Kuhl.
Milwaukee will apparently be without third baseman Travis Shaw for quite some time. Shaw dislocated his shoulder when he dove for a ground ball in Wednesday’s game. It’s still not known if he’ll need surgery to repair the damage, but the most optimistic timetable doesn’t have him back in the field until August.
