MLB

Riley Greene legged out a little league grand slam last night, but the Tigers fell to the Nationals 5-4 in 10 innings. Greene’s triple in the bottom of the fifth inning plated Ryan Kreidler, Andy Ibáñez and Mark Canha. He scampered home after Washington second baseman Luis García Jr. overthrew third base. That gave Detroit a 4-3 lead. Washington tied the game with a run off Shelby Miller in the eighth, and won it with Lane Thomas’ sacrifice fly off Andrew Chafin in the 10th.

The Tigers entertain the Nationals again tonight. Reese Olson will start against Jake Irvin. Coverage will begin at 6:15 on 99.3 The Lift.

Kreidler was in the line-up last night after being called up from Toledo to fill in for Javier Báez. Báez has been placed on the injured list with back inflammation. Jack Flaherty received an injection to try to ease his back problems. Detroit’s off-day Monday enabled them to skip his turn in the rotation.

The Brewers collected just five hits in a 3-0 loss to the Blue Jays last night. Milwaukee starter Carlos Rodriguez struggled in his major league debut, giving up two runs on seven hits before leaving in the fourth inning.

The Brewers host the Blue Jays again this afternoon. Tobias Myers will pitch against Chris Bassitt.

Pitcher Kevin Herget was optioned to Nashville to make room for Rodriguez on the major league roster. Pitcher James Meeker was designated for assignment to open a space on the 40-man roster.

Joey Ortiz missed last night’s game with a sore hamstring. He’ll be evaluated today.

NBA

The NBA championship series resumes tonight, when the Mavericks entertain the Celtics. Boston leads that set 2-0.

NHL

The Stanley Cup series continues tomorrow, as the Oilers host the Panthers. Florida leads the set 2-0.
