High School – Bulldogs Win Third Straight
In high school hockey last night, Hancock scored the first three goals and cruised to a 9-3 victory over Negaunee. Casey Nicholas led Hancock with two goals and two assists. Hunter Kero scored twice, and Isaiah Bekkala added a goal and an assist. The Bulldogs have won three straight. Link to video highlights from the game here.
All of last night’s high school basketball games were snowed out…
– The girl’s game between Hancock and Ironwood will be made up on Tuesday, February 10th at 5:30. That is the varsity tip-off time – there is no JV game.
– The Lake Linden-Hubbell boys’ game against Republic-Michigamme will be made up tonight.
– No make-up dates have been announced for the games between Calumet and Baraga, and Chassell and Ontonagon.

– L’Anse plays at Calumet. Our pregame coverage will begin around 7:00 on KBear 102.3 and KBear102.com.
– Lake Linden-Hubbell entertains Baraga.
– Jeffers hosts Republic-Michigamme.

Finlandia Hoops, Women’s Hockey Fall
A late comeback by the Finlandia men’s basketball team fell short, as the Lions lost at Saint Scholastica 66-62 last night. Finlandia trailed by 11 at halftime, but opened up an eight-point lead midway through the second half. The Saints responded with a 12-point run, and hit five free throws in the final minute to put the game away. Brandon Robinson and Marcus Geralds each scored 18 for the Lions.
The Finlandia women’s team led early, but lost to Saint Scholastica 71-60. Paige Yoho led the Lions with 22 points. Both Finlandia teams play at Northland College this evening.
The Finlandia women’s hockey team fell to Wisconsin-Superior 3-1 last night. Brock Nelson scored the Lions’ only goal, with an assist from Hancock’s Kim Harter. Those teams play again in Superior this afternoon.
MTU Hockey Drops in Polls
After last weekend’s split against the University of Wisconsin, the Michigan Tech hockey team has dropped from fifth to eighth in both of the national polls.
NHL – Red Wings Prepare for Oilers
The Detroit Red Wings skate at Edmonton tonight. Faceoff is at 9:30 on AM 1400 and FM 99.3 WCCY.
NBA – Pistons Face Spurs
The Detroit Pistons play at San Antonio tonight.
