• Hancock outskated Negaunee 5-1. David Olson, Bryce Hanner, Jackson Sintkowski, Max Heinonen and Mitch Cora scored for the Bulldogs. Dan Wroblewski made 10 saves to get the win in net.

• Lake Linden-Hubbell got past Ewen-Trout Creek 58-53. Cleo Milkey scored 28 for the Lakes, and Kate Borseth had 25 for the Panthers.

College Basketball

The Finlandia men’s team defeated Maranatha Baptist 78-72 last evening. Danny Zuchak led the Lions with 14 points. Ilrick Higgins-Moise and Emmett Johns each hit a pair of free throws in the final 18 seconds to seal the win.

The Lions welcome Grace Christian tomorrow at noon.

Both Michigan Tech basketball teams play at Northern Michigan tomorrow afternoon.

College Hockey

13th-ranked Michigan Tech hosts Saint Thomas tonight at 7:07, and tomorrow at 6:07.

Northern Michigan has the weekend off.

The Finlandia men’s hockey team visits Adrian College tonight and tomorrow.

The Finlandia women’s hockey team entertains Trine University tonight at 7:15, and tomorrow at 4:00 at the Houghton County Arena.

GLHL

The Calumet Wolverines travel to Colorado to face the Vail Yeti tonight and tomorrow night.

The Portage Lake Pioneers entertain the Eagle River Falcons tomorrow night at 7:30 at Dee Stadium.

NBA

The Pistons host the Pelicans tonight. Coverage will begin at 6:35 on 99.3 The Lift.

NHL

The Red Wings downed the Maple Leafs 4-1 last night. Ville Husso made 32 saves. Lucas Raymond, Robby Fabbri, Ben Chiarot and Moritz Seider scored.

The Wings visit the Blue Jackets tomorrow night. We’ll join the game after Calumet hockey on KBear 102.3.

MLB

Baseball spring training begins a month from today – sort of. Tigers pitchers and catchers who will be participating in the World Baseball Classic will report to the club’s facilities in Lakeland, Florida, on February 13th. Other pitchers and catchers will check in February 15th. Position players must report by February 20th. Detroit’s first Grapefruit League game will be played February 25th.

The Brewers have agreed to contracts with pitcher Hoby Milner and catcher Victor Caratini. That avoids arbitration hearings for both of them.

NFL

The NFL Wild Card Playoff games begin tomorrow…
• The 49ers host the Seahawks at 4:30.
• The Chargers visit the Jaguars at 8:15.

On Sunday…
• The Bills entertain the Dolphins at 1:00.
• The Vikings host the Giants at 4:30.
• The Bengals welcome the Ravens at 8:15.

The Cowboys visit the Buccaneers Monday night.
